The reason we have to brush our teeth is to keep our mouths healthy. Plaque contains bacteria which can be harmful to your teeth and gums, and so we brush our teeth regularly to make sure that we get rid of all the plaque we can.
You should make sure you brush your teeth twice every day, and for at least two minutes at a time. One way of making sure you are brushing for the right amount of time is to time yourself while you are doing it!
Try to make sure that, when you brush your teeth, you make sure you reach every tooth. You want to make sure you don’t miss any areas.
You should use a fluoride toothpaste to brush your teeth. Get your dentist to recommend a toothpaste that is right for you or your child’s age.
Don’t let children eat or lick toothpaste from the tube
Even though children will find some toothpastes might taste really good, they should be allowed to ever eat it or lick it directly from the tube! It is also important to remember to keep children calm when they/you are brushing their teeth. Because moving around or playing too much with a toothbrush in their mouth could cause them to injury themselves.
